Taylor Swift Tops Billboard's Music Moneymakers List

rs_560x415-140126170312-1024.Taylor-Swift-Mesh-Gown-Grammy-Awards.jl.012614“Billboard” has released their annual “Music Moneymakers” list, which ranks the 40 artists who raked in the most money last year.  The final estimates include album sales, digital music sales, streaming video and music, ringtones, publishing royalties, and revenue from touring, which is where the big money comes from these days.

They only count U.S. music sales and touring revenue, so anyone who spent a lot of last year touring abroad won’t have that income added.  Merchandise sales and sponsorships weren’t included either, because there wasn’t enough information available to make it consistent across the board.

TAYLOR SWIFT is #1, with an estimated net income of $39.7 million. MADONNA topped last year’s list, with $34.6 million.  She didn’t make the list this time, mostly because she didn’t tour or release anything new last year.

Here are the Top 20 Music Moneymakers:

1.  Taylor Swift, $39.7 million

2.  Kenny Chesney, $33 million

3.  Justin Timberlake, $31.5 million

4.  Bon Jovi, $29.4 million

5.  The Rolling Stones, $26.2 million

6.  Beyoncé, $24.4 million

7.  Maroon 5, $22.3 million

8.  Luke Bryan, $22.1 million

9.  Pink, $20.1 million

10.  Fleetwood Mac, $19.1 million

11.  Justin Bieber, $18.9 million

12.  Bruno Mars, $18.8 million

13.  One Direction, $18 million

14.  Jason Aldean, $17.9 million

15.  George Strait, $16 million

16.  Jay-Z, $15.7 million

17.  Michael Bublé, $14.5 million

18.  Mumford & Sons, $14.2 million

19.  Dave Matthews Band, $13.9 million

20.  Rihanna, $13.8 million

By the way, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK came in at #29, with just under $10 million.  That’s pretty wild for a group that was pretty much forgotten for the 14 years between their break-up in 1994 and their reunion in 2008.

Of course, it’s even crazier when you consider that they’re kind of LEGIT again . . . since you can’t really chalk this up to the novelty of their reunion, because they’ve been back for SIX YEARS now.
