Movies That People Think Should be Remade

Movies That People Think Should be Remade

If I were president, on Day One I would sign an executive order banning movie remakes. But I’m not, and they keep happening. So Buzzfeed asked their readers what movies SHOULD be remade, and why.

Here are some highlights:

  • “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. . . to fix some of the changes they made from the original book, and to have a REAL Asian actor play Mr. Yunioshi, rather than MICKEY ROONEY in “yellowface”.
  • “The People Under the Stairs”. . . Because it deals with issues that are still relevant: Race, class, and “how greed brings out the worst in people.”
  • “Little Shop of Horrors”. . . Just so NEIL PATRICK HARRIS could play Seymour.
  • “The Outsiders”. . . Because kids are still reading the book, but probably don’t even know who the actors in the movie are anymore.
  • “The Breakfast Club”. . . So they could add discussions on race, gender, and LGBT issues.

(Are there any movies YOU think should be remade? Why? Or are you against remakes altogether? Discuss. And check out more possibilities at Buzzfeed.com.)

Kids Do Better in School If Their Teachers Are Hot

Kids Do Better in School If Their Teachers Are Hot

Are you already looking forward to parent-teacher conferences because your kid’s social studies teacher is SUPER HOT? Well here’s another, less important reason to be excited: Your kid’s probably going to get an A in that class.

According to a new study out of UNLV, students do better in school if their teacher is good looking.

The researchers had some students listen to an audio recording of a lecture and look at the photo of the person they thought was giving it.

Some of them saw a photo of an attractive teacher, and some of them saw an unattractive teacher.

And when they took a test on the lecture afterwards, the kids who thought they had a good-looking teacher got better scores. They also gave the teacher better reviews.

When you hear this, you might think it’s one of those classic, frivolous lawsuits by some moron. But just wait . . . by the end you’ll TOTALLY be on this woman’s side.

Stacey Pincus of Chicago, Illinois just filed a class action lawsuit against Starbucks . . . because they put too much ICE in their iced coffee.

Sounds dumb, right? Just hear her out. She points out that Starbucks advertises their drinks by how many ounces they have: 12 ounces in a tall, 16 in a grande, 24 in a venti, and 30 in a trenta.

And that’s how much coffee you get . . . if you order it HOT. But if you order it iced, you get a cup full of ice, which cuts into the amount of coffee. So in a venti, you only get 14 ounces of coffee with 10 ounces of ice. Instead of 24 ounces of coffee.

Her lawsuit says, quote, “[You] get just over half of the advertised amount, and just over half of the amount for which you are paying.” She also found that makes iced drinks the most profitable items on the menu.

So she wants $5 million for all the people who’ve been ripped off in the past 10 years. The suit is also demanding that Starbucks serve iced drinks in bigger cups so you get the full amount of coffee you order.

Toy Barbie Jeep to Class

20-year-old Tara Monroe is a junior at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She got a DUI in March and her license was suspended. But she needed a fast way to get around campus, and she says, quote, “riding a bike sucks.”

So . . . she bought a pink Barbie TOY JEEP off Craigslist. It runs on a 12-volt battery and maxes out at five miles per hour. It also looks ridiculous when an adult is driving it.

She’s been spotted in it all over the campus . . . which has led to TONS of people posting pictures of her on social media. She says, quote, “This is the best way I could’ve gotten my 15 minutes of fame.”
